Melissa Calkins

Compliance and Process Excellence Manager

Melissa Calkins is the Compliance and Process Excellence Manager.  She joined Teleios Consulting Network in August 2023 and comes with sixteen years’ experience in hospice.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, four years of nursing education, and a black belt in Lean Six Sigma. 

In 2011, she discovered her passion for hospice quality and compliance.  She began as a data analyst before taking over as director of quality and compliance in 2017.  She is devoted to the original hospice philosophy and will be a lifelong supporter of non-profit hospices working to keep it alive.  Her skills and expertise include clinical process improvement, regulation, and policy research, producing and developing clinical education, collaborating with front-line workers on best documentation practices, data analysis, and defending hospice eligibility.  She has taught best practices at a national level, coordinated numerous favorable record reviews, and has been instrumental in helping one hospice recover over $2 million in ALJ hearings.  She is an active member with NPHI, NHPCO, HCN, and CGS’ POE AG.

Melissa is currently living in Colorado with her beloved husband, their three children, and their furry friends (2 dogs and a cat).  She enjoys all things outdoors including spending time with her family, camping, kayaking, hiking, and swimming.  Some of her favorite things in life involve her family, her faith, coffee, wildflowers, and photography.
