Christine Lau

VP of Serious Illness and Care Management

Christine Lau, RN, LCSW, APHSW-C, is dually licensed as a registered nurse and clinical social worker. Knowing from a young age that she wanted to work with people facing illness, she sought out both degrees in order to holistically address the physical, emotional, and psychosocial aspects of living with illness. Christine’s career has included work in oncology, hospice and palliative care in roles which have allowed her to use both degrees in direct clinical care and leadership positions.

She moved to NC from Michigan in 2003, and joined the team at Four Seasons Compassion for Life where she served many roles, including as an RN in hospice admissions and the inpatient hospice unit, as well as serving as a palliative care social worker and RN in hospital-based palliative care consult teams.  She then took on the role of Director of Palliative Care Operations which encompassed both inpatient and outpatient services. After spending some time at home to start her family, she returned to clinical work at Mission Hospital in Asheville as the program team leader and clinical social worker for their hospital based palliative care consult services. She is also faculty at the California State University Shiley Institute for Palliative Care for their post-MSW palliative care certificate program.

Christine joins Teleios Collaborative network as Senior Director of Serious Illness Care Management. Key to this role is the creation of a population health focused care management model to addresses both the medical and the social determinates of health. She will also serve as a resource for education and mentoring of nurses and social workers providing palliative care across the network.

In her free time, she enjoys making jewelry and camping in the mountains of Western North Carolina with her husband Tim, and their 2 son, Ian and Eric.
